Travelers departing for Seattle-Tacoma International Airport on Sunday may want to depart several hours early on Sunday, as security lines are in the parking lot, hunkering down several times.
According to travelers’ tweets, the wait is around 2.5 hours.
The official @flySEA account said wait times were at “challenging levels”, with “increased volumes”.
A response said there was only one TSA worker for general boarding. KIRO 7 News is working to verify.
A traveler said he missed his flight after arriving at the airport 2.5 hours early.
According to a TSA spokesperson, all security lines have been merged into a single queue, and once travelers reach the terminal, they are redirected to individual checkpoints.
The spokesperson said 24 of the 29 screening lanes are open and the two that are closed are due to equipment malfunction. The other three are international arrivals.
The spokesperson noted that it was cruise season and travelers arriving from cruise ships were arriving at the same time.
According to the TSA spokesperson, the longest wait time recorded today was just 60 minutes.
KIRO 7 also contacted Sea-Tac Intl. Airport.
