Barracuda CloudGen Access Adds Web Security in Zero Trust Access Solution

Barracuda, a cloud-focused security company, announced that CloudGen Access, now available in AWS and Azure marketplaces, has been upgraded with new security features.

Barracuda’s SASE platform now offers web security to protect users from harmful Internet content, keeping employees safe and strengthening integration with identity providers.

With the increased speed of hybrid and remote working, protecting employees and contractors continues to be a top priority and a complication for many businesses.

Barracuda CloudGen Access uses a Zero Trust security approach that trusts no one. Employees and systems are untrusted until their permissions and identity are confirmed.

Every user and device must be verified before granting access to resources, making it difficult for attackers to infiltrate the network or steal data.

Barracuda’s Zero Trust Network Access and Web Security Service now offers built-in protection for users, applications, devices, and other critical resources against ransomware and other cyberattacks, including:

  • Policies and reports based on users and groups
  • Ongoing threat intelligence updates
  • DNS based web security policies
  • Remote user / work from home coverage
  • Time and location based policies and reports
  • Elimination of latency via local inspection

According to Barracuda Vice President Sinan Eren, in the aftermath of the pandemic, people have sought to allow telecommuting for their employees to ensure their safety.

“Customers were eager to grant access, but quickly realized they also needed to protect user devices wherever they were, especially a home network over which the company had no control and no could not enforce security policies.”

“We accomplish this by pushing web security into CloudGen Access, which tracks the endpoint and does not impose additional latency.” says Eren

Barracuda CloudGen Access can now be purchased and deployed on AWS and Azure Marketplaces. It is now possible to do this with an existing AWS or Microsoft billing procedure, in addition to using it on AWS or Azure with a few clicks.

Tim Jefferson, Barracuda SVP, Engineering and Product Management, Data, Network and Application Security, says: CloudGen Access provides secure access to cloud, hybrid and SaaS applications for remote and desktop users,

“Zero Trust has become an integral part of many business operations, helping to ensure continuity, reduce risk and improve overall security.” said Jefferson.

According to Founder and CEO, Webshare Utku Zihnioglu, without Barracuda CloudGen Access, the company would not be able to provide adequate customer support.

“We should either sacrifice speed and responsiveness or security,” says Utku Zihnioglu
