Against the rejection of his plea against R. Bindu
Congress Leader Ramesh Chennithala, MLA will present a review petition to Kerala Lok Ayukta against his rejection of a plea to investigate allegations of nepotism and abuse of power against Higher Education Minister R. Bindu in as part of the reappointment of Vice President of Kannur University Chancellor.
Former opposition leader says Lok Ayukta failed to take into account ‘revelations’ made by Governor Arif Mohammed Khan as well as Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s alleged involvement, both of which were raised by him in another complaint. Delivering the verdict without considering his complaint amounted to negligence towards the petitioner, he alleged.
He also said judgments rendered without heeding recommendations made in violation of prescribed statutes should be seen as ignoring the responsibilities vested in Lok Ayukta.
Pointing out that the Lok Ayukta had accepted the fact that Dr Bindu had recommended the renewal “in violation of the standards of the University Grants Commission (UGC)”, Mr Chennithala said that this validated the allegation of nepotism and abuse. to be able to. The revelation made by the Chancellor also proved similar accusations against the Chief Minister.
A thorough investigation was needed into the controversy under the new circumstances, Chennithala added in a statement.
