Douglas S. Beidler Appointed Deputy Director of Security Division – FBI

Director Christopher Wray has appointed Douglas S. Beidler as Deputy Director of the Division of Security at FBI Headquarters in Washington, DC. He most recently served as the division’s deputy deputy director.

The Security Division is responsible for protecting FBI personnel, information, and facilities.

Mr. Beidler joined the FBI as a special agent in 2002. He was assigned to the Las Vegas field office, where he investigated national security matters, served on the Joint Terrorism Task Force and worked on human intelligence issues. He was promoted in 2010 to Supervisor of the Inspection Division at FBI Headquarters, working in the Internal Investigations Section.

Mr. Beidler returned to Las Vegas in 2012 to continue investigating national security matters as well as criminal cases. He was promoted in 2014 to supervisor of the Joint Terrorism Task Force and oversaw all international terrorism investigations in Nevada.

In 2017, Beidler returned to FBI Headquarters as Special Assistant to the Deputy Director of the Security Division. Later that year, he was promoted to Special Assistant to the Deputy Executive Director of the Human Resources Branch.

In 2019, he was selected as Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the Counterintelligence and Cyber ​​Branch of the Chicago Field Office. He also oversaw the Chicago Regional Computer Forensics Lab, which helps law enforcement in Northern Illinois with their digital forensics. In 2020, Mr. Beidler was promoted to Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the Chicago Field Office.

Mr. Beidler was again promoted in 2020 to the position of Section Head of the Employee Development and Selection Program in the Human Resources Branch at Headquarters. He was appointed deputy deputy director of the Security Division in 2021 and assumed the role of acting deputy director.

Mr. Beidler is a graduate of Clemson University in South Carolina. Prior to joining the FBI, he was an executive in the convention sales industry.
