Justice of the Peace Barbara Howell to file for 10th term in District 4

Justice of the Peace Barbara Howell announced Friday morning that she is seeking her tenth term in Saline County Quorum Court.

Barbara represents District 4, an area of ​​approximately 127 square miles, in northeast Saline County. Barbara’s service to the Quorum Tribunal has included work on the following committees: Finance and Personnel Committee, Public Works and Human Resources Committee and Budget Committee.

In 2008, Barbara was instrumental in building a new bridge over Caney Creek so residents wouldn’t be stranded in a flood. She worked with Salem Water Users to obtain city water and fire hydrants for her district in 2007. She was a board member of the Lake Norrell Area Association for 19 years and served as president for 12 years.

She has been an active fundraiser and supporter of the Lake Norrell Fire Department for the past 20 years. She has also assisted other fire departments including Paron Fire Department, West Pulaski Fire Department, and Salem Fire Department.

Howell was honored in 2012 at Lake Norrell with the inaugural Lifetime Achievement Award for her many years of volunteerism. She was also honored as one of Saline County’s Extraordinary People at a banquet hosted by the Saline Courier in 2012.

Howell enjoys helping people and working with the Court of Quorum. She is the widow of Jack Howell. Barbara Howell is a member of Crossroads New Baptist Church. She can be reached at 501-681-7577.
