BLOOMFIELD, NJ – Bloomfield Police are looking for a shoplifting suspect after he allegedly wielded a knife at a local store owner last week, authorities said Thursday.
According to the Bloomfield Police Department, officers responded to Purple Beauty Supply at 311 Glenwood Avenue on December 1 after receiving a report of a shoplifting incident.
The store manager told officers a man walked into the business and tried to pick up hair products without paying for them. When the store owner allegedly recognized the man in a previous shoplifting incident and attempted to confront him, the man pulled out a “switchblade-type knife” and pointed it at him, said indicated the police.

After a brief struggle, the man fled north on Glenwood Avenue, police said.
