This system works by firing a group of strike elements at an incoming missile detected by its radar sensor to destroy the attacking element. However, this protection may fail against the Kornet because the second missile will accurately hit the target, even if the first projectile is destroyed, the expert explained.

Various aerosols and fumes are also used to protect the armor, the expert stressed. “However, this does not significantly reduce the effectiveness of the Kornet smart missile,” Litovkin said.

“Even though a smoke screen suddenly appears as a missile approaches a target, the missile does not lose control and continues to move along the original flight path. Tandem charge ammunition

Kornet missiles have both the ability to attack a target through a twin launch and tandem charge warheads that strike explosive reactive armor and puncture various additional armor plates, he said.

Additional armor plates are frequently used to protect against such ammunition, Litovkin noted.
