Stellar Cyber Hires Exabeam, Cybereason, Fortinet Security Veterans; Open XDR for MSSP Push Continue

Stephen Salinas, Product Marketing Manager, Stellar Cyber

Stephan Tallent, Global VP of Service Providers, Stellar Cyber

Security company Open XDR Stellar Cyber has hired two key executives to drive forward the company’s partner and product marketing initiatives. Hires include:

Tallent is well known in MSP and MSSP partner circles. He previously held key positions at Cybereason and Fortinet. Tallent succeeds Brian Stoner, who recently joined DTEX Systems as Vice President of Global Channels and Alliances.

Salinas, meanwhile, previously held key product marketing positions at security companies including Exabeam, Siemplify, Deep Instinct, Cylance (now BlackBerry Cybersecurity), and Alert Logic.

Hiring comes at a key time for Stellar Cyber. Dozens of security companies now promote various XDR strategies. Despite this competition, Stellar Cyber has won contracts with many MSSP Top 250 companies. Among the reasons: Instead of forcing MSSPs and end customers to remove and replace their existing endpoint, network, and cloud security systems, Stellar Cyber typically integrates with third-party market solutions.

Aiming for further growth, Stellar Cyber raised $38 million in Series B funding in November 2021. Lead investors are Highland Capital Partners and Samsung Next.

Stellar Cyber: Executive Insights

Changming Liu, CEO, Stellar Cyber

In a prepared statement on joining Stellar Cyber, Tallent said:

“I’m excited to join Stellar Cyber, whose Open XDR approach creates a huge opportunity for MSSPs to streamline their security operations. XDR is an evolution, not a revolution in security services, and that shouldn’t mean vendor lock-in. I look forward to continuing to champion the evolution of MSSP services and helping partners be more efficient and cost-effective in delivering security services.

Salinas added:

“There is an underserved segment of the market that for years has been an afterthought for the majority of cybersecurity vendors. Stellar Cyber is committed to delivering solutions for this market that deliver value from day one, and I couldn’t be more excited to bring my experience to the team to help push word.

Changming Liu, CEO and co-founder of Stellar Cyber, concluded:

“We are extremely pleased to welcome Stephan and Stephen to the Stellar Cyber leadership team. They are joining at a great time. As we continue to experience significant growth with MSSP and enterprise customers, it is essential that we were adding experienced executives like Stephan and Stephen to help accelerate our rapid global expansion.
