As a public policy analyst and data scientist, Babcock said she believes the Green Party has the right vision and leadership to tackle the most pressing issues facing Ontarians.

“I’m running for the Ontario Greens to give Nickel Belt residents a voice,” Babcock said in a statement. “I am deeply concerned about the lack of affordable housing, mental health supports and environmental protection in my community and across Ontario.

For over 25 years, Babcock has served a variety of clients within Ontario government and federal government departments; as well as the World Bank, several Fortune 500 companies and dozens of non-profit organizations.

“Glenys is a real underdog champion,” said Mike Schreiner, leader of the Ontario Greens. “She will work hard to ensure the unique needs of the Nickel Belt are understood and implement real solutions to build a more caring, affordable and green community.”

Chamber hosting fireside chats with local candidates

The Chamber of Commerce invites local candidates in the provincial elections to share their platforms and positions through two online events this week.

Those running to represent the ridings of Sudbury and Nickel Belt will be specifically invited to speak on business-related issues and how to improve the economic viability of the region.

Candidates from the four main parties in the riding of Sudbury will be welcomed for a fireside chat on Wednesday evening, while candidates from Nickel Belt will have a chance to speak on Thursday. Both events run from 7-9 p.m.
