Wilmington, DE- Delaware State Police are investigating a shooting incident that occurred outside a Wilmington-area liquor store Friday night.
On February 11, 2022, at approximately 7:38 p.m., soldiers were dispatched to Christiana Hospital for a person who arrived at the emergency room with an apparent gunshot wound. The investigation determined that the 24-year-old New Castle woman was heading south on Newport Gap Pike when she parked on her right shoulder, directly across from Ted’s Liquors, located at 1202 Newport Gap Pike. While she was still seated inside her vehicle, a dark colored SUV traveling south on Newport Gap Pike slowly passed. At the same time, the front passenger leaned out of the SUV window and fired several bullets at her vehicle before continuing to drive south on Newport Gap Pike. The victim fled and was transported by private vehicle to the hospital. She suffered two non-life-threatening abrasions to her arm and abdomen during the shooting.
A scene investigation was conducted and several casings were located outside Ted’s Liquors.
The suspect vehicle is described as a dark colored SUV. There are currently no suspect descriptions or surveillance photographs available.
