Walker’s Point CBD Store Buys Building, Plans Outdoor Destination Venue

MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee’s first CBD and hemp specialty store, Canni Hemp Company, announced Monday that it has purchased a 2,000 square foot building at 810 S. 5th Street in Walker’s Point.

This is the location of the company’s retail store.

Canni Hemp Company founder and CEO, Milwaukee musician Colin Plant, closed the property on Friday.

According to a press release, Plant intended to purchase the Walker’s Point building and turn the outdoor space behind it into “a destination for the community to meet regularly, relax, decompress and work.”

“I want to keep finding new ways to contribute to the neighborhood and support the people living in my community,” Plant said. “We want to benefit our business, local residents, as well as neighboring businesses.”

A press release says Plant and his team are filling their calendars for the first week of June through September with weekly events, such as live music and Maker’s Markets. He also intends to apply for liquor licenses.

“I have a real passion for working with other small businesses,” Plant said. “We would like to offer those who do not have a physical store the opportunity to come to our site and support them.”

Canni is one of Wisconsin’s only retailers with a growing business. Plant says he also wants to use the outdoor space to provide education for the community.

“Our clients often rely on us to filter out inaccurate industry information that exists,” Plant said. “We want to provide more ways to responsibly educate our community about alternative, natural ways to deal with things like stress, anxiety, and pain.”
